The government of Peru announced in El Peruano that “vulnerable families” will receive a payment of 380 soles, or roughly $107, during the 15 days of mandatory isolation. At a press conference, President Martin Vizcarra stated that the funds will help recipient families meet their basic needs.

Approximately nine million Peruvians, or roughly a third of the total population, live in a vulnerable family that will receive assistance.

According to the latest situation report from the World Health Organization, there are 71 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Peru.
