The first case of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, was confirmed in Argentina, according to Reuters.

So far, Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Mexico have also confirmed cases of COVID-19.

On Saturday, February 29, the Brazilian Ministry of Health confirmed a second case of COVID-19.

On Friday, February 28, the Mexican government confirmed three cases of the virus.

Other countries are taking precautions. In Guatemala, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance raised its preparedness level.

The World Health Organization reports that there are 91,783 reported cases of COVID-19 globally with 3,123 deaths as of March 3. Only 1,848 cases were reported outside of China.
