The United States ambassador to Costa Rica, Sharon Day, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Minister of Public Education, Sonia Marta Mora Escalante, to strengthen English education in public schools.

“The memorandum of understanding includes support for English language development for students, professors and MEP staff with English specialists; development of pedagogical materials and resources for English teaching and learning; fostering English teaching through cultural events at public schools and high schools, and the promotion of exchanges programs,” according to the US embassy in San Jose.

According to El Mundo, Minister Mora said “with this memorandum of understanding the cooperation ties between the Ministry of Education and the Embassy of the United States are defined and consolidated, with the purpose of promoting and giving sustainability to the curricular reform in English.”
